Monthly Meetings in 2006
- Dec 27 - Open forum. LJ will preside.
- Nov 29 - Jim Mitchell speaks on "Be Your Own Help Desk - Part 1". His web page for SBAMUG is http://jimmitchell.org/projects/presentations/sbamug/.
- Oct 25 - CHANGE: Our scheduled speaker has a conflict so the topic for the meeting will be Internet Telephony (aka VOIP or voice over Internet protocol). LJ will talk about Skype, which I hope you all know about and use and which is the subject of this month's newsletter article, and the Gizmo Project.
- Sept 27 - We will have a lesson in Photography given by Michael Pliskin, an award-winning professional photographer and digital artist.
- Aug 30 - A joint meeting with MacHACers and Aerospace Mac Users Group. The speaker for the night will be Matt Neuberg who has written several books for the Take Control series. This event may start at 7:30 PM.
- July 26 - Glen and LJ will discuss some of their favorite shareware programs (under $30).
- June 28 - Glen and LJ will discuss some of their favorite freeware (as in FREE) programs.
- May 30 - Lynette Kent will speak about Wacom tablets, a pen-based alternative to the mouse. They're especially useful for graphic artists who want to draw or trace.
- Apr 26 - Deb Shadovitz was scheduled to talk about iChat but couldn't make it. Glen and Bob have been using video iChat as a picture phone. Are there any others who'd like to join us?
- Mar 29 - Presentation about buying and sellin on eBay by Pat Carnahan.
- Feb 22 - Allison Sheridan will talk about podcasting. Podcasting comes from "iPod" + "broadcasting" and you can listen using iTunes or other software. Allison will tell you how and maybe how to create your own. GarageBand 6 now supports Podcast recording.
Allison and Ron Burch did a bang-up job telling us about Podcasting. I've posted her presentation as a PDF file.

- Oct 26 - Doug Ness will talk about digital photography
- Sept 28 - MovieWorks from Interactive Solutions. Multimedia Presentations & Movie Editing for the rest of us.
- Aug 31 - Oz, from CompUSA talks about Tiger and new Apple products
- Jul 27 - Glen Terry will talk about photo web sites and iPhoto.
- Jun 29 - It's beginners night. The WHOLE evening will be devoted to Q&A and short demos.
- May 25 - Demo of Virtual PC for the Mac. How to run Windows software on your Mac
- Apr 27 - Steve Cochrane will speak about securing your Mac hardware.
- Mar 30 - Don Baker from Klassic Specialties will talk about printer ink and paper
- Feb 23 - Juan Menendez, Power Quality manager at So. Cal. Edison will talk about protecting your Mac against spikes and surges.
- Jan 26 - John Gebhardt will show us how to use Photoshop Element to scan and edit digital photos.

- Dec 29 - The meeting falls between Christmas and New Years. It's election time so let us know who you want to see for our new president and veep. Bring leftover Xmas goodies and we'll have a party
- Nov 17 - We're a week early this month to avoid Thanksgiving.

- Oct 27 - Danese Cooper, Open Source Program Manager at Sun Computer, will speak on how and where to obtain open source software for the Mac
- Sep 29 - LJ Palmer will talk about running UNIX programs on OS X
- Aug 25 - Sylvia Thomas speaks on Internet security and privacy
- Jul 28 - Roundtable on new features in Panther
- Jun 30 - LJ Palmer will talk about X11 and how to run free UNIX applications, such as Open Office and GIMP (Photoshop clone), on your Mac.
- May 26 - Scott McCallon, Redondo Beach Police Dept, will speak on "Computer Crimes & Identity Theft"
- Apr 28 - Mark Rogers, Epson evangelist, will speak on amateur digital photography and print making
- Mar 31 - Debbie Shadovitz talks about taming Panther.
- Feb 25 - Jayson from Circus Ponies, he will be showing us "Notebook"
- Jan 28 - An Apple rep will talk about dot Mac (mac.com) membership.
