The Email Help sections have examples for Apple Mail, Emailer & Outlook. (Other email programs are set up in a similar way). If you'd like to make a nice screen shot of a different email program set up for our server, I'll be happy to post it here.

Basic settings sor SBAMUG POP mail:

Account type: POP
Description: username@sbamug.com
Email address: username@sbamug.com
Full Name: User Name (Your Real Name)
Incoming POP server: mail.sbamug.com
If asked, the POP server port is the usual 110
User Name: username@sbamug.com
password: ********

You will probably want to use your ISP's outgoing SMTP server to send mail unless that's a problem. In which case you may use ours.

• If you're using our outgoing SMTP server, you'll always have to check mail within 10 minutes in order to be allowed to Send mail. If you don't, you'll get an error: "550 We do not Relay". Check for new mail, then try to send, it ought to send ok this time.
• The alternative is the use SMTP authentication. Same username & password as your incoming POP server.
• If your ISP is blocking SMTP port 25, then try using port 26 instead. Look at your email program Server settings, under "Advanced" or "Sending".

SSL: off.

You have a new SBAMUG.com mailbox and/or website.

Your username & password are probably as you requested. You received your username and password by email. Substitute in your own user name & your own password, as you received in the email, into the below instructions.

Here are the mail settings:

• your email address: username@sbamug.com
• pop mail server: mail.sbamug.com
• smtp mail server:
  (1) use whatever your ISP gives you (best, unless it's Verizon or AOL) or
  (2) mail.sbamug.com

If you get a lot of "list mail" or "eGroup" mail, and it's cluttering up your email InBox, you might like to know how to have those group emails sort themselves into a folder so you can look at them when you're ready, after reading the jokes & virus warnings your friends and family send you.
